Joining OSI
For Peformers
Each season, Opera Singers Initiative selects 10 emerging professional opera singers to join us after a highy selective audition process. Opera Singers Initiative holds auditions for these 10 slots in October and November of each year.
Once selected, these 10 opera singers are offered monthly mentoring with key business, arts and classical professionals, the opportunity to perform at a full season of events and funding for continued study. Grants and other funding is offered to select members chosen by our Board of Directors and Advisory Committee and announced at our Fall Fete in September.
Our Audition Panel selects these 10 opera singers based on the following criteria:
- Vocal Quality
- Vocal Technique
- Dramatic Presentation
- Language Proficiency
- Preparation & Professionalism
- Motivation & Passion
As a member of Opera Singers Initiative, our 10 members are involved in a comprehensive 12 month training program that includes mentoring and career development coaching, networking events, essential workshops, lectures and master classes, performance opportunities and funding. Our training programs runs January - December of each year.
For members selected to join Opera Singers Initiative, a donation of $195.00 is requested to begin your program. This donation ensures that all performers are fully committed to a full year of training and development.
Applications for our upcoming 2011 Season are now being accepted. Performers can submit their materials online here to be considered for our 2011 Season.
For Volunteers
Opera Singers Initiative offers exciting opportunities for volunteers, and we greatly value their help with all aspects of a performance, event, auditions or working one-on-one with our Board and Staff. Whatever your skill or interest, there's always room for another dedicated volunteer.
